Referrals

 

Middle South believes that in order to provide the greatest long-term value to its clients and the public generally that it is imperative to pursue an efficient, orderly, professional transition of private business ownership interests.

 

If you have an existing relationship with an individual or business in which Middle South can provide assistance, please review and follow the instructions on the appropriate referral agreement shown on our forms page.

 

The current corporate transactions market place is similar to the real estate markets of old.  Realtors listed properties and only sold them within their firm.  Today the real estate market is much more efficient and properties are sold between brokerage firms.  Similarly, Middle South believes a more efficient market place for corporate assets is desirable.

 

An "efficient" market is desirable for several reasons one of which is to provide sufficient information as to minimize risk, which brings more capital into the market to stimulate economic development; increase the market value of the operations of the business to buyers and sellers as well as to provide benefits to the public generally.

 

Consider the market for publicly traded stocks.  This is an efficient market  -   there are numerous buyers, numerous sellers, and information is available for any specific business as well as alternative / comparable investment options.  More information is available through an efficient market which reduces the risk to investors / buyers, allows for an accurate assessment of corporate value and growth strategies, brings more investors and capital into the market and makes the market more liquid.  The more efficient a business exchange marketplace the more liquid the marketplace, and the greater the benefits to all market participants.

 

A more liquid and efficient market:

  • allows for the sale of business assets with more predictability and less risk,

  • reduces the transaction costs required in ownership transfers, and

  • allows for a greater likelihood that the business will continue in operation, grow and create additional jobs, while providing strong returns to capital providers / investors and increasing value / sale price to sellers.

We believe strongly that the business ownership transfer process is best performed:

  • by qualified professionals experienced in valuing, marketing and closing business ownership transfers,

  • by fair and honest relationships with all parties, all the time, and

  • by pursuing a more efficient business exchange marketplace.

For these reasons, Middle South seeks to work with others to effect win - win situations.  Middle South's referral policy provides a minimum 10% referral fee to be paid for any referred business purchase or sale transaction.  Also, Middle South encourages participation after the referral.   Where the referring party remains active in the process, Middle South offers up to an addition 15% supplemental referral fee (total of 25% maximum) at its discretion.
